A total of 143 newly confirmed GABI-Kat lines have been donated to NASC. This donation batch represents 143 T3-sets and 1.852 individual seed bags. In total, 6.808 T3-sets of which each represents a single GABI-Kat line have been donated so far. Since some lines contain two confirmed insertions, there are 6.896 GABI-Kat insertion alleles available from NASC. The total number of individual seed bags donated to NASC is 96.234.

A total of 255 (two batches with 157 and 97 lines, respectively; the latter already at 2009-02-12) newly confirmed GABI-Kat lines have been donated to NASC. These two donation batches represent 255 T3-sets and 3.425 individual seed bags (2.011 and 1.414, respectively). In total, 6.665 T3-sets of which each represents a single GABI-Kat line have been donated so far.

The presently running GABI-FUTURE-Kat II grant from PTJ / BMBF (German Ministry of Education and Research) will terminate at 2009-06-30. We are now submitting another extension proposal to continue the service to the community for another two years. We still get between 50 and 70 insertion allele requests each month. One problem to be addressed is the reduction of the germination frequency of the now almost 10 years old seed stocks. Obviously, a line and the respective insertion(s) is lost when the T2 seeds that we have in stock do not germinate any more. In addition, there are still some insertions that are of interest in terms of genome coverage, even though we have already confirmed and donated most of the lines/alleles that cover mutations in genes for which mutations are not available from other populations (in Col background).

A total of 98 newly confirmed GABI-Kat lines have been donated to NASC. This donation batch represents 98 T3-sets and 1.340 individual seed bags. In total, 6.411 T3-sets of which each represents a single GABI-Kat line have been donated so far.

The GABI-Kat website has been refreshed visually in the context of the move from Joomla version 1.0.x to version 1.5. "Joomla!" is the content management system (cms) we use to maintain the site.

A total of 100 newly confirmed GABI-Kat lines have been donated to NASC. This donation batch represents 100 T3-sets and 1.369 individual seed bags. At NASC, the individual seed bags are counted as "lines". In total, 6.313 T3-sets of which each represents a single GABI-Kat line have been donated so far.

The GABI-Kat website will not be functional for several hours between 8:00 and 12:00 CET. The reason is a major software and hardware maintenance on the central CeBiTec web servers.
